Did you know: We Git-host Gentoo user overlays! 2010-04-12
Your Gentoo overlay hosted on Gentoo machines like this one – wouldn’t that be sexy?
Just click here to open a bug (already set to product “Gentoo Infrastructure” component “Gentoo overlays”) providing
- Overlay Name (matching "^user/[A-Za-z0-9_][A-Za-z0-9_-]*$")
- An extra-short description
- Owner name and e-mail (that’s you)
- SSH pubkey you’ll be pushing with
That’s it. Once you’re running we can get you into the layman registry, too.

For Gentoo developers only, I presume?
No, I said “Gentoo user overlays”
If you want your overlay hosted, just contact us.
….since when? What brought this about?
Last I checked the only user hosting we had was Sunrise.
Which Gentoo box is this on?
Is it also possible to have an overlays for OSS projects? Should these also match “^user/[A-Za-z0-9_][A-Za-z0-9_-]*$” ? Can we have multiple users pushing to one overlay? Thanks.
Hmm, just a few days ago I read contrary information on http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/overlays/userguide.xml :
It’d be great if someone authorized to do so would update this.
Q: Do you host overlays for users?
* A: No, we do not. If you want an overlay of your own on (git.)overlays.gentoo.org, you must first become a Gentoo developer.
rumpelstilzchen, thanks for reporting. fixed.
I already have an overlay which is hosted on github. Can this overlay get into the layman registry?
So does o.g.o support anything besides git, such as cvs, svn, hg, bzr, or stuff like that?
