Kate searching: Highlight All just arrived 2007-09-22
We are getting very close now to a productive search and replacing experience in Kate/KWrite. One big thing was still missing: highlighting of all matches. I finished that yesterday:
Since that feature has beast potential I would like to ask you to try it out and report any bugs you might find: Try to break it and see if it survives.

I dunno I still think the ‘Highlight all’, ‘From cursor’, and ‘Selection only’ could be more intelligent. When do you ever not want any of them?
In fact I just had a thought – it would be a lot nicer if there was a ‘jump to beginning’ button instead of the ‘from cursor’.
Or eeeeeven better, have [First] [Previous] [Next] [Last] search buttons. Maybe using double arrows for first and last.
Also ‘Add…’ should be changed to ‘Add [something]…’
What does the add button add? Not clear at all.
What Tim said. Especially the [First] and [Last] buttons are a great idea! Performing an action is somewhat easier to understand than modifying behavior, and as little side benefit, push buttons are easier to hit than radio buttons.
Well, you need to have the screen real estate for all the buttons…

can konqueror’s search do a highlight-all like this? all these great serach features are things I want in both konq and kate. wish they could share more code somehow.
modal searching needs to die.
Quite cool. But I would prefer if you would compact the dialog a little more. There is so much free vertical Space that could be used.
