I’m shocked. 2007-08-06
I’m shocked how much a pleasing visual style can influence my feel for and my view of Windows. Yes, that closed source Microsoft thing that I’m trying to move away from. The “Windows Classic Style” made me angry more and more and now Windows looks nice on my Computer. I’m shocked.
Responsible is the Royale Noir style:

How can just a change in look suddenly make me like a closed source operating system? When I think about it I would dislike a bad look for an Open Source one as well… but I’m still surprised. Anyway: My daily work will be more fun from now on: isn’t that cool.

Well, you know, you can make KDE look like that. Heck, you can make KDE look like anything. I remember fooling a cousin into thinking I was running OS X on my Pentium 4. Didn’t work when he saw I was using Konsole instead of Term.app or whatever it’s called.
For reasons that I’m still trying to understand I turned my desktop into this thing and don’t want to go away from it. It just looks so subpar, but makes me productive. Oh, and Katapult is enabled too. Go figure.
When I fist tried KDE sometime ago, it looked too unprofessional and cheap, like plastic. I prefered the more solid gnome. Now I tried again and it is much diferent, everything more beautiful and solid.
Well, the responsible by that “plastic like” look was the plastick theme, popular in that time, and now I’m using the default kubuntu visual, with poliester. So it is not too much to say that I like KDE much more now.
